How can we involve residents in monitoring urban wildlife? What do local ambassadors and citizen scientists need to make an impact? On 28 and 29 September, all Urban Animal Network partners met in Mechelen to turn these questions into concrete plans. It was a great opportunity to exchange knowledge and learn from each other.
Developing our citizen science monitoring framework
This time, we came together to further develop our citizen science monitoring
framework, work on training programmes for public authorities, local ambassadors
and citizen scientists, and prepare the next steps for our local pilots.
Biodiversity in practice
An inspiring guided tour through the city of Mechelen showed us how green and blue
infrastructure can support biodiversity and become part of the urban environment in
practice.
Creating space for urban wildlife
The Urban Animal Network aims to make urban areas safe havens for biodiversity
and to foster human-wildlife coexistence. We empower urban stakeholders by
providing knowledge, tools and validated solutions that help enable the safe and free
movement of urban animals.
